Apple with a Big Byte – Digital Vector Illustration
School Project | Adobe Illustrator Course, Spring 2012
Apple with a Big Byte is a conceptual still-life vector illustration based on a photograph I captured and used as a reference. The challenge was to showcase technical fluency in Adobe Illustrator through detailed shape building, gradient work, and stylized lighting.
The illustration plays on the pun of an apple with a “byte,” subtly blending organic form with digital context. I used gradient mesh and custom shading techniques to replicate the soft lighting and surface texture of the apple, along with its surrounding environment.
This project taught me how to translate real-world imagery into digital form while maintaining emotion, depth, and mood—all within the clean precision of vector illustration.
