Culture by the Shore – Art Guide Book Design
School Project | Typography & Hierarchy Course, Spring 2012
Culture by the Shore is a conceptual art guidebook highlighting public art installations along Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. This project was created for a Typography & Hierarchy course, where the focus was on exploring how layout, scale, and spatial relationships guide the reader’s experience.
I designed the full layout, paying close attention to typographic hierarchy, visual pacing, and white space. The book also features original photographs I captured along the route—showcasing how art integrates with the urban landscape.
This project gave me a deeper understanding of how typography supports storytelling, while teaching me how to balance structure with visual rhythm in editorial design.
