Uncovered Chicago Magazine – Art Direction & Prepress
Art Direction Course, 2016 | 172-page Publication | Team of 6 Students (Design & Advertising)
Uncovered is a 172-page student-produced lifestyle magazine created as a final project for an Art Direction course in Fall 2016. The magazine focuses on Chicago’s lesser-known cultural spots—offbeat events, hidden gems, and stories typically known only to locals.
As the Art Director, I collaborated with a Creative Director from the advertising track and a team of six students to develop the magazine’s visual identity and layout direction. I co-designed the logo, worked on multiple page designs, and was fully responsible for prepress and print preparation—ensuring consistency, accuracy, and professional production standards before sending files to the print vendor.
The final piece blends bold typography, layered visuals, and a modern layout system designed to reflect the magazine’s urban, mysterious tone.
This project strengthened my skills in collaborative art direction, editorial layout, and prepress production under real-world conditions.
